Use these for inspiration. They can be in the form of pictures, words, songs, etc. Feel free to post your own; site admin will try to post at least one a week.
These are not required to use in your story, though you are welcome to. They are excellent for free writing and brainstorming as well.

| Also known as National Novel Writing Month (November). Nanowrimo has a great website with lots of useful info, and even if you don't do novels per se, the advice works for short stories too. Also, as soon as November is over, revision begins -- and that's something we all need help with.
April is known as Script Frenzy -- the same folks run it -- where you write a play/ screen play in a month. If either of those interest you, meet your fellow writers here.

| Post any contests you may find (local, online, print, doesn't matter) and calls for submissions here. The difference between the two is that often with contests there is a prize, whether cash or publication. Calls for submissions generally only provide publication if your work is accepted -- but a worthy reward in its own right! Check back here often as new ones pop up all the time in all genres and forms. In the post title, please include the deadline.
